If it is uncomfortable, place wax on it. If the band or bracket comes off completely, bring it to your repair appointment. Do not connect rubber bands to a loose band or bracket. * If an archwire is out of the tube, try to place it back in the tube with tweezers. If that is not possible, clip the wire with fingernail clippers behind the last tooth to which it is securely fastened. If any discomfort remains, place wax on the area until your repair appointment. * If a tie wire is sticking your cheek, try to bend the wire back with a spoon or pencil eraser. If that is unsuccessful, cover with wax until your repair appointment. * If an archwire has rotated around to the other side, try to slide the archwire back with tweezers or small needle nose pliers. If unsuccessful, cover with wax until your repair appointment. * A lost color or metal tie can be replaced at the next appointment unless the tooth begins to move or a rubber band is hooked to the tooth. * If your expander becomes loose, stop turning and call the office. If the appliance is completely out, bring the appliance to your repair appointment. * If any other problem arises or you just are not certain what to do or how to correct the problem, please call the office. It is always better to call if in doubt. After hour calls will be directed to call Dr. Gardner or the assistant on call. ![]() |
